Best..The Help and The Lord of the Rings:) Worst.. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban..Twilight ..The Host(that was a freakin' disaster) Thanks for the giveaway!
I don't have favorite movie adaptations because I.. well I can't pick just one. I'm always excited to watch the movies though because there's always something unique about them. I'm sure most of the movie adaptations I love are already listed above anyway. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Although the movies of The Lord of the Rings were well done, I thought they were terrible adaptations/interpretations of the books. Because of this I have so far avoided the first movie of The Hobbit. Also The Lightning Thief was almost unrecognizable from the original story. The Hunger Games was fairly decent and I'm hoping The Book Thief won't be a disappointment.
But i will tell about Darren Shan Saga and The Vampire's Assistant. The books and the film, i love both of them. But, if i watch the film and match the story in the book...
I thought the Perks of Being a Wallflower movie was absolutely spot on in terms of plot, casting and general feel - probably because Chbosky wrote and directed it himself! Definitely one of the strongest adaptations I've ever seen - and not just because I'm a huge Ezra Miller fan! :)
I really liked the Harry Potter series (if we ignore how many things from the books didn't make it to the movie) and The Perks of Being a Wallflower was quite good too! :)
Best adaptations have got to be Harry Potter #1 through 3! The rest were ok, the first 3 were the best. :) I think Hunger Games is a close second. The worst would be Breaking Dawn parts 1 and 2. Wow, that was just bad. Though I thought the casting for Renesmee was good.
I think The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook are the best adaptations I've seen, and then Percy Jackson would have to be the worst. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I really like the Harry Potter movie adaptations. I didn't really like The Hunger Games (that is NOT how she got the pin!! And I watched it with a couple people who hadn't read the book - they kept asking me questions because the movie didn't explain things well). And I really hated The Host. It felt like a lot of the story was missing in that one.
I'm a sucker for movie adaptations based on books I read as I kid. I live for movies like James and the Giant Peach and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory because I just love how they portray it onscreen.
My favourite book to movie adaptation would have to be Where the Wild Things Are. I read it as a children's book and that's all I ever saw it as. But, the movie gave the book depth and touched on more issues while being entertaining for younger and older demographics. Plus, I cry every time I watch it.
So far my favorite book to movie adaptation has been The Perks of Being a Wallflower xD
But I am just adoring that more and more YA books are being turned into movies, so I love HP movies, THG and am dying to watch the movie adaptation of Divergent =]
I haven't actually read the book yet (which is why I would love to win it) but I love the movie SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. I also really enjoy Stephen King's books/movies, especially THE SHINING and THE GREEN MILE
I have to say the Harry Potter movies were amazing, and as for the worst, I guess it has to be Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, because they totally changed the story :P Thanks for the amazing giveaway!
Lord of the Rings and Gone with the Wind are definitely my favorite book-to-movies. The worst, Beautiful Creatures, sooo boring. Thanks for a giveaway!
Lord of the Rings and Gone with the Wind are definitely my favorite book-to-movies. The worst, Beautiful Creatures, sooo boring. Thanks for a giveaway! :)
The early Harry Potter movies - I had no interest at all in reading the books until I saw the first 2 movies - and then I went to the bookstore right after seeing that second movie and bought all the books to date.
There are so many book to movie/series adaptations that I like!:) But if I were to name only one, I would choose Pride and prejudice adaptation of 1995 (not the movie, but series produced in 1995). Thank you for the giveaway!
There are so many wonderful book to movie adaptations that I like. But if I were to name only one, I would choose Pride and Prejudice, 1995 adaptation (not the movie, but series produced in 1995). Thank you for the giveaway!
I loved how the Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings books series were made into movies. I also loved Stardust movie, but the book was just so-so.
My least favorite is probably Eragon, I liked the book, but the movie just was too different and somehow failed to capture the book's essence. I felt he same about The Host movie, which wasn't bad at all, just that a lot of what was in the book really took place in Melanie's head, which just wasn't possible to bring out to the screen.
I think the HP movies were great adaptations. I hated the Twilight ones, but more so for the casting (Kirsten Stewart?? Seriously??) than for following the storyline.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favourite movie adaptations. It was so true to the book, and the casting was perfect - probably because Stephen Chbosky was very involved in the process. I don't think I've ever laughed/cried so much in the middle of a crowded theater as I did when I first went to see it.
Also, I had no idea that The Raven Boys was being made into a movie! This news just made my day completely, since I love those boys (and Blue). : )
My Favorites are *The Notebook* and *Twilight* even though with *Twilight* a lot was left out of the movies. I still loved the movies too! I can say I loved the books more! I also can't wait to see the *Vampire Academy* movie *Blood Sisters* I really loved the books. So I'm pretty sure I will love the movie as well! :) I don't have a worst as of now :) Thank you for giving me a chance to win this great giveaway! :) Good luck to all & Happy Reading! :) PS Love your Blog! :)
Some of my favorites are The House of Sand and Fog, The Count of Monte Cristo, Mystic River, Braveheart, I Robot, all 3 Lord of the Rings, A Beautiful Mind, and Fight Club.
the best..the lord of the ring and the hobbit, the notebook, the worst could be Beutiful creatures, i dont like the movie! thanks for making this international!
Maybe because it's fresh in my mind but I'm going to say City of Bones was bad because 1. He's just not Jace and 2. It totally ruined a part of the third book. not cool
Eragon is definitely the worst adaptation! They totally ruined it! And Warm Bodies too! The best are Harry Potter movies, LOTR, Hobbit, and Pride & Prejudice. Perfect adaptations.
I loved hunger games. I was amazed at how close to the book they actually stuck (Or i thought anyways) and that was reading the book after i watched the movie a few times. I also really enjoyed warm bodies. I haven't read that book though. I was really disapointed with beautiful creatures. :-/ I loved the host though as a movie over the book & even my husband enjoyed it. That's a rare find. lol I think for me because the book felt like it took forever to get through.
On a side note, I didnt know the immortal rules was going to possibly be a movie?? I am actually reading the eternity cure right now and i would have to say i think they would be cool movies to see. I would love to see Shatter Me too. I LOVE that series. <3
I am excited for Catching fire this fall & divergent next spring! I am also hoping i'll get to see city of bones before it comes out on DVD.
I don't know what makes a worst book adaptation to movie, but I love Gone with the Wind adaptation. I thinks its a classic masterpiece! Thanks for the giveaway!
The worst was probably... the Twilight series. I did like the book, but hated the movies. It was way too corny and ugh. The best were the Harry Potter movies - obviously! :)
I loved the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, Colin Firth was the perfect Mr. Darcy. I think being a mini-series helped it, because movies tend to have to cut away a lot of good moments from books in order to fit into a set amount of time.
The Princess Bride is my favorite. A film adaption disaster in my opinion is Percy Jackson. I loved the books but hated the movie! (the first one, I decided not to watch the second one )
My favorite would have to be Harry Potter. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was really good. I liked it so much I saw it twice. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
The worst is Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The best is Lord of the Rings and my favorite's are Harry Potter. Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite movie adaptation was I Am Number Four it was so visiually close to the book which is very hard to accomplish. The worst was the Hunger Games they changed so much and you could tell the budget wasnt what ot should have been
best are the help, the perks of being a wallflower, harry potter, and the silver linings playbook, i might b forgetting more haha, but i can't remember all
The producers did a great job with The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. I really didn't like Beautiful Creatures. The book wasn't very good either in my opinion.
My favorite book made an excellent movie: Stephen King's The Stand. But my second favorite book was made into a HORRIBLE movie: Watchers by Dean R Koontz.
My name is Latoya, I am a Librarian and photographer(though I haven't done much of this lately, I'm a litte rusty). So, feel free to chat with me, I don't bite..I promise!

They are different.... Too different....
But i love the story....
Going old school... Love the orginal Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and HATE the remake.
ReplyDeleteI thought the Perks of Being a Wallflower movie was absolutely spot on in terms of plot, casting and general feel - probably because Chbosky wrote and directed it himself! Definitely one of the strongest adaptations I've ever seen - and not just because I'm a huge Ezra Miller fan! :)

ReplyDeleteI love all the Harry Potters especially the third just because I feel they were so well done! True to the book and yet still amazing!
