Book Description:
Idis, a hot-tempered witch, was pronounced dead Halloween night. Her runaway cat, Surla, has a horrific premonition-come-true, when Idis escapes the morgue and then a mental hospital. These two enemies unexpectedly cross paths in the woods, triggering the curse of being BeSwitched.
A powerful opportunity comes with Surla switching bodies with her witch. She can dominate the now little black furball, giving her an education, teaching her patience and taking the shrew to the salon for a fun makeover.
The two go to high school together, when Surla passes as a teenage girl with a little help from magic. When Surla is magnetically drawn to the curious new guy, Jax Morreau, she is infatuated. Could ravens, coffins or a cursed ring keep Surla away from her invitation to the Morreau Family Reunion at Lake Sequoia? An ancient mystery will be revealed, but at what cost?

Review: I think I liked this switch even more than Surla's switch with Cathy. What is great about this story is that now we are introduced to a more confident Cathy, though this book is not really about her but Surla and Idis. We get to see Surla missing being a human, which is funny because she doesn't like them......well until she meets Jax Morreau. The chemistry between the two of them was such fun to read. The banter between Idis and Surla, and how the relationship between the two changes, as they both get to see how the other side lives, literally. I thought this was a very well written interaction with the witch and her familiar. The characters were memorable, and easy to relate to as a reader could identify someone or themselves with each one. Surla may be a cat but she is a kitty with style and pizazz. Can't wait to read more about the characters' journey. Wittingly charming and full of humor this is a must read!

Interview with Molly Snow

What excites you about writing?
It excites me when I get goosebumps, butterflies in my stomach or laugh out loud during scenes I have created. Writing your very own story caters to what specifically brings you all those feelings. The next best thing is receiving fans’ comments that agree!

The Antioch Press said that BeSwitched is a fun fairytale and that it teaches life lessons. What life lessons can teens learn from reading your books?
It teaches girls to go ahead and put themselves out there, and be content with who they are. It teaches us that there will be those who love us and those who will never love us no matter what we do. Life is more fulfilling if we let those who bully us or bother us not affect our self worth.

Surla switches bodies with lonesome souls. What do you think causes some teen girls to feel lonesome?

I think many teens, boys and girls, just want to feel accepted and loved. Wanting love can be good and natural, but the reaction to that desire can be bad, if it is sought after through negative means. Looking for fulfillment in all the wrong places will leave us feeling lonely, even if we are surrounded by a hundred people. Quality, not quantity, of friends is key. If we love ourselves first, then it will relieve a lot of the loneliness that we can all experience at different times in our lives. The next way to rid ourselves of  loneliness is to have a charitable heart toward others. If we volunteer at a rest home or in clubs at school--places that are seeking assistance--then that can help cure us of loneliness as well.

If BeSwitched and BeSwitched Witch were turned into movies, who would you cast as the main characters?
Alexis Bledel,  from Gilmore girls: Cathy Phillips, the shy teen
Kathy Griffin, comedian: The witch, Idis
Matthew Lawrence: Todd Wilkenson, the quarterback
Tiffany Thornton, from So Random!: Tiffany, the snob
Johnny Depp (The teenage version of himself, of course): Jax Morreau
Demi Lovato: The voice of the black cat, Surla.

Why do you think stories where people or animals switch bodies are appealing?
It forces those who switch to have empathy for the others’ position. It also shows how different someone’s life could be with a personality, perspective or attitude adjustment. I love the psychology behind it. As a bonus, switching lives can also bring a lot of humor to a story. I love the movie The Hot Chick, for instance.

Synopsis from Goodreads: After spending hundreds of years under the boot-heel of Idis, a frenzied witch, Surla (a magical black cat) decides to run away to find freedom, but there's one catch-- The Black Cats' Rule states it will switch bodies with a lonesome soul.
Cathy, an extremely shy teenage girl, can't muster the guts to ask her crush on a date or stand up to the three biggest snobs at school. What's a girl to do? Could being BeSwitched be the answer to her wishes?

Review: I loved it, it was such a cute book. Cathy is like any teenage girl that doesn't feel like she fits in and is afraid to speak up for herself. She is more comfortable just fading into the background. Then she crosses paths with Surla, who is the complete opposite and takes the switch to Cathy's advantage. Surla, makes her not only stand out and but stand up against the three snooty girls that pick on her everyday. How can any teen not relate to that, seriously it's something all of us have experienced at some point in time whether we were on the receiving or giving end. Surla is so good at being a teenage girl full of spice and spunk. Cathy is content with being a cat, that is until her high school crush suddenly takes interest in her new style and attitude, and Surla's witch Idis is up something that may just be trouble for them all. I loved all the characters, Snow does a great job of making them realistic yet full of humor, and witty sarcasm. Overall, this was such a fun read!
