I always say that poetry goes over my head and this anthology has not changed that, so needless to say I didn't get it. However, the short stories were easier for me to follow and most of them are dark, weird and eerie in nature. Hinton has accomplished getting the reader interested in wanting more of the stories in how she describes each scene in the height of a major turning point. This writing style leaves the reader to formulate their own ideas of how or why these events transpired the way they did. Overall, the anthology is alright, not much for poetry but that's just me.
I used to write poetry in high school. I also had to read poetry and dissect it for assignments, but I never read poetry for fun. I did find one of my favorite poems ever through an assignment. You may like it too, The Goblin Market by Christina Rossetti.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves these type of poetry books, I will share this one for her..poetry is a complicated thing. I love Poe and a few others , but do not like stories in poetry form.
