Synopsis
Happy endings are hard to find, and even though Katriona is in the middle of a war with someone who’s already stolen more than she can replace, she aches for a positive future with her Draiochtans.
Armed with hope, confidence in her abilities, and a strange new gift from her mother, Kate ventures into the Darkness to defeat a fallen god.
Losses add up, and new obstacles rise to stand in the way.
Is the one determined to bring Encardia light strong enough to keep fighting, or will all the sacrifices to stop those who seek domination be for nothing?
Thoughts:Katriona must return the light to Encardia that has been in the dark for years but as the war begins, she questions if it worth all the loss. She just wants to be able to enjoy being a newlywed for a moment longer but that seems impossible given the constant battles they face against the daemons. Things aren't as they seem, the creatures are behaving erratically, never sleeping or moving as they should and this is quickly wearing on Katriona and her crew. Literally, backed into a corner she must figure out how to decipher her mother's cryptic message that all the different worlds must gather together to face the evil before them. Can Katriona get it together before she loses everyone one she loves? No matter what she has to fight because once her faith falters Encardia and the other worlds will succumb to darkness, no one will be spared.
Not my favorite of the series, I felt like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows all over again as many characters don't make it to the end. I'm not telling who but just know that it happens so suddenly and it made me sad. Katriona seems to take a step back from book two; she is not as confident or assertive. It's understandable that she feels the burden of having so many people rely on her to save the world but she was more uncertain about so many things. As she supposed to be the great leader, she has to show her strength yet she struggles much just to keep her food down, literally. Overall, the writing is good, the characters are okay and the story moves along fine just be prepared for the many sacrifices that happen and another surprise towards the end.
I'm not sure how I feel about killing off characters. I guess I'm okay with it if I'm not too emotionally or seven books of content attached... hmm... sounds interesting nonetheless.
