Synopsis

It's been months since the ghost of Anna Korlov opened a door to Hell in her basement and disappeared into it, but ghost-hunter Cas Lowood can't move on. 

His friends remind him that Anna sacrificed herself so that Cas could live—not walk around half dead. He knows they're right, but in Cas's eyes, no living girl he meets can compare to the dead girl he fell in love with.

Now he's seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he's asleep and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong...these aren't just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.

Cas doesn't know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn't deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it's time for him to return the favor.

Cas can't seem to stop thinking about Anna, the girl he fell in love with but they have one big problem: she's dead and currently being terrorized in hell. In an effort to save her, he decides that he must go there to get her back...he just doesn't realize that it could kill him in the process and poor Anna's sacrifice would be for nothing. He learns about a group that hand in the forging of his knife that can assist him opening a door to retrieve Anna from hell. He meets up with some interesting characters and goes across the world on a new adventure with his friend Thomas and Carmel. He will be tested in many ways, but his true choice will be should Anna be back in this world, where they could never truly have a relationship or is her presence enough to salve his troubled heart? 

This was an okay listen, honestly I feel like this didn't translate well as an audio. I wasn't able to delve into the story. This won't make sense but it just seemed like it was being read to me, like a parent would read to a child. The narrator did differentiate between male and female as well as young to old but something is missing. I'm not saying the narrator did a bad job. The sound quality is great but the pace is slow. Overall, I should have read this one, it happens from time to time.
