“There is no pain in this death, only peace, knowing I am going to die with the one I love the most.”—Katriona Wilde.

Katriona Wilde has never wondered what it would feel like to have everything she’s ever known and loved ripped away, but she is about to find out.
When she inadvertently leads her sister and best friend through a portal into a world she’s dreamed of for six years, she finds herself faced with more than just the frightening creatures in front of her. Kate’s forced to accept a new truth: her entire life has been a lie, and those closest to her have betrayed her.
What’s worse, she has no control over her new future, and it’s full of magic and horrors from which nightmares are made.
Will Kate discover and learn to control who she really is in time to save the ones she loves, or will all be lost?

Review:
Wilde’s Fire is a story about a young girl, a prophecy and her destiny. Katriona is strong, yet vulnerable and tad naïve. Her story takes off when on a camping trip with her sister, and her best friend Brad (who is super creepy, possessive and crazy), she discovers a light that leads her to an underwater cavern. Curiosity gets the best of her and she leads them straight into another dimension, where these mysterious dark creatures attack them. In attempt to save her sister and Brad, she tries to push them back through the portal but only her sister makes it out. Fortunately, soldiers come to their rescue and she finds herself face to face with the man that has haunted her dreams for the past six years, Arland. Though, they only just met she finds herself drawn to him and with good reason, he is handsome, kind and cute. I like that he has morals that guide him to make good decisions. He is also sworn to protect her as she is the light that can defeat the darkness. She is doubtful this is accurate as she struggles to not only come to terms with this but control her magic. Katriona is a great female lead that just needs a little push to succeed in her task, and once she truly embraces her strength; she will be a magnificent force to come up against. I love the chemistry between Arland and Katriona. I think it is great how, though it seems they have known each other for a long time, they take the time to develop a relationship. But things aren't easy for them as just when it seems they may have hope, something happens to take that away. I think all the characters are well written and believable. Mostly, I love the magical aspect of this book and how it's set in darkness with people that are of light, who have had to adapt and thrive in these circumstances.Overall, great read!

“Hello, Katriona.”

Those two words spark fear in Katriona Wilde and give way to an unlikely partnership with Perth, the man she’s been traded to marry for a favor. Saving her true love and protector Arland, her family, and their soldiers keeps her motivated, but the at-odds duo soon realizes trust is something that comes and goes with each breath of Encardia’s rotting, stagnant air.
Now, Kate must unite her clashing people, and form an army prepared to fight in order to defeat Darkness. When so many she’s grown fond of die along the journey, will she still be Katriona Wilde, the girl with fire?

Wilde's Army Review: This is a really intriguing series that will be one of my favorites for this summer. I like the idea of the old magic being needed to help those that have forgotten the past. Kate has grown into a strong woman in this second book and she is willing to sacrifice herself to save them all. Her biggest issue falls around getting them to be willing to save themselves. She has to lie just to get to the truth by pretending to love the man she was betrothed, Perth, a ground dweller that no one seems to trust, except Kate. She really has no choice because, the god Griandor, told her to trust those around her and she believes he is included in that statement. He is the only one around after the dark god and his daemons kidnapped everyone else. Now, she is in much more control of her magic but still she has more to go in controlling her emotions. Sometimes, she has the tendency to get ahead of herself and not analyze the whole situation before reacting. Arland, her true love, who it felt is not as confident in this book. He seems more sulky and withdrawn internally because he believes that he keeps failing her. In addition to Kate having to constantly reassure him, she has to form an army, convince the leaders to aid her in this task and kill the dark god but it's not going to be easy. Amongst all the deception lie truth and the light to save her love and Encardia. The plot flows well and the action sequences are vividly described. The characters are well written and believable. This is a good story that I would recommend to fantasy, and romance lovers.
