Book Blogger Hop
I saw this posted on a blog I follow and saw it was hosted by CrazyforBooks.
This is my first blog hop, so hop on over to CrazyforBooks and join in the fun.
This weeks question:
What is your favorite Halloween costume?
Even if you don’t celebrate, what kinds of costumes do you like?

My Answer: I would say it would have to be a nymph, fairy or a belly dancer! Something colorful :) Though I haven't celebrated since I was in elementary school.

What's in My Player #2

Synopsis from Goodreads
Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? As summer turns to Arctic winter, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove.

I find that I can overload myself with books...so many books so little time. If I could spend all my days immersed in a book I would, but alas no can do. However, with so much repetitiveness on the radio it's nice to pop in a book and listen to a story unfold. So,what's in your player?Post links so I can see what you're listening to.

Illegal by Bettina Restrepo

                 Blurb
A promise.
Quinceanera.
A promise that we would be together on my fifteenth birthday . . .
Instead, Nora is on a desperate journey far away from home. When her father leaves their beloved Mexico in search of work, Nora stays behind. She fights to make sense of her loss while living in poverty—waiting for her father's return and a better day. When the letters and money stop coming, Nora decides that she and her mother must look for him in Texas. After a frightening experience crossing the border, the two are all alone in a strange place. Now, Nora must find the strength to survive while aching for small comforts: friends, a new school, and her precious Quinceanera.
Bettina Restrepo's gripping, deeply hopeful debut novel captures the challenges of one girl's unique yet universal immigrant experience.

This book made me sad, it was good but heart- wrenching.I think the sadness was heightened for me because of the new immigration law that was passed earlier this year in the state of Alabama and is now being fought by the government and others. I've seen articles in the paper about Latinos moving back to their countries or other states and removing their children from schools for fear of deportation. This book made me see their perspective and how hard it is for them to leave everything for the hope of a better future in America only to not " count as people here" as the main characters Nora mother said in the book. Some people may take offense to this but there is always some fact to fiction. Anyway, this book will make you think about how you treat people. Nora is a well rounded and strong character, with lots of spirit.I may have something more to say later but I will end with this quote from the book, "God doesn't care about your status. He wants you to have faith."

Book Review: Iron Knight

I curse you, demon! Soulless one. From this day forth, let everyone you love be taken from you. May you suffer the same agony as the girl you destroyed, may your heart know pain unlike any other, for as long as you remain soulless and empty.

Ash has a problem. He has been banished from the Iron Realm by the one woman he loves, Meghan Chase because the very thing that surrounds her could kill him. Vowing to return to her some way, he begins his journey to the End of the World. With Puck and Grimalkin at his side he must seek out the seer to learn the path he must take and prepare to face many trials on his journey to become human. He must choose between love he lost and the future he desires. Cursed to never truly grasp love without a soul, will he survive this quest for mortality?

I liked how Ash changes and grows in this installment of the series. He came from a background where emotions were considered as weakness when actually it is the beginning of his true strength. I wasn't sure how I felt about this book at first but I must say I'm satisfied.I have come to love this series by Kagawa and hope for more.

My Recommendation: Teens age 14-18 and to anyone interested in YA paranormal fiction.

Cover Review: Absolutely LOVE it!!
